Humps and Bumps

April 2012 - Jamaica, NY

wood and rubber surface, 44 x 96 x 120 inches

Humps and Bumps is a parabolic and transformative wave encouraging passersby to slow down and take in the significance of their urban surroundings. The functional sculpture is made from wood and rubber and mimics the iconic patterns of speed bumps on the streets. Installed on the corner of Archer Avenue at 158th Street in Jamaica, Queens. Humps and Bumps was year-long commission through the New York City Department of Transportation’s Urban Art Program and was developed in partnership with Jamaica Center for the Arts and Learning.
